Skyscreen Decoating Powder – A Boon to Graphic Printers

Skyscreen Decoating Powder is a strong stencil remover that can be used on any type of mesh. It’s safest, fastest, and economical stencil recovery system which works best with emulsions, direct/indirect or capillary stencils.

A boon to graphic printers, decoating powder is easy to handle and is odorless posing zero occupational hazard. That is not to say that screen printers shouldn’t use gloves and goggles while working.

How to use SkyScreen Decoating Powder for Effective Stencil Removal

  1. Ensure that the screen is completely free from ink residues. Use Skyscreen’s All Purpose Ink Wash for this purpose as it works best with most wet and dry inks. Use a nylon brush to scrub both sides of the screen.
  2. Use water gun to wash both sides of the screen to remove ink cleaner, and filler, and allow to drain.
  3. Apply SkyScreen Decoating Powder solution to both sides of the screen with a round soft brush. For general use, mix contents of a 100g sachet in 10 liters of water in a plastic bucket to obtain either 1% strength liquid solution. The 2% solution may be required for removing old or stubborn stencils. For 2% solution use half the water used to prepare 1% solution.
  4. Wait for a few minutes; if necessary apply more SkyScreen Decoating Powder solution. Do not allow the solution to dry on the screen as this may fuse the emulsion to the mesh and make stencil removal extremely difficult.
  5. Rinse the stencil using a high pressure water gun. Ensure that all the chemicals are washed off properly from the screen mesh.
